Is It Time For A New Boiler?
If your boilers older than 10-years, it’s time to consider an upgrade. The older the Boiler, the less efficient they are.
Service annually to ensure your Boiler runs at the best possible efficiency. Nevertheless, boilers still lose efficiency over time.
A domestic boiler is responsible for 55 to 60% of your household energy bill.
Old boilers are known to run as low as 55% efficiency, which means 45% of the fuel used is wastage.

Don’t Waste Energy
Upgrade your old boiler to a new condensing boiler and save yourself lots of energy and money.
- Modern condensing boilers run at 90% efficiency, so only 10% of the fuel is wasted.
- Some new condensing boilers run as high as 99% efficiency, with only 1% wasted.
Condensing Boilers eliminate wastage by catching and recycling excess gas that’s converted to heat water.
To give you an idea of the savings you could make by upgrading your Boiler.
A typical three-bedroom semi-detached home can save up to £340 a year in energy bills.
After around 4-5 years, your new Boiler will pay for itself.
Protect Yourself From Breakdown
- With old boilers, it’s not a case of ‘if’ your Boiler will break down. It’s ‘when.’
- The older the Boiler, the more likely it is to break down.
- Boiler repairs can be expensive and part hard (sometimes impossible) to obtain
- Old boilers usually fail in winter when they’re working at their hardest
- New Boilers have up to 10-year warranties
- All fuel types fitted including Gas, Electric, LPG & Oil
New Boilers Don’t Break Down
Get a new boiler installed, and boiler breakdown won’t be a possibility or issue.
Save Space
Over the years, boilers and central heating components have got smaller.
A new boiler will be smaller than your old Boiler, freeing up space for storage.
You also have the opportunity to change the old regular or system Boiler to a combi boiler (although this won’t be suitable for all homes), disposing of the cylinder, creating extra cupboard space.
Do Your Bit For The Environment
New boilers are greener, using less fuel with higher energy efficiency. You’ll reduce your carbon footprint, better for your pocket, better for the planet.
A Cosier Home
You’ll notice after a new boiler installation and optimisation of your central heating system. Your home will instantly feel warm and cosier.
If you have traditional style radiator valves, you can upgrade to thermostatic valves during the boiler install. Allowing you to set your preferred temperature on a room by room basis.

Boiler Replacement
The Boiler in a central heating system will last for around 10 to 15 years (if serviced and looked after properly).
Radiators and pipes will generally last double that (20-30 years)
So we regularly remove old Boilers and install new ones in their place to work with the existing radiators and pipes.
This type of installation is the least expensive option. the install gets done swiftly with little disruption to your family and everyday life
Installation Time Depends On
- The type of Boiler you currently have
- The type of Boiler installed
- Your current system (pipes/radiators)
Combi boilers are the quickest type of boiler installation as fewer parts are involved in the central heating system.
When replacing a system or traditional style boiler, other parts may need to be replaced as well. Such as the pump, cylinder, or water tank so that the installation may take a bit longer.
New Installations
New build properties and extensions often require new boiler installations as well as radiators, valves, pipes, and cylinder (system boilers).
When it comes to installs, we’ll design and fit the perfect Boiler and central heating system for your new space.
Systems are designed to give you the best possible heating and energy efficiency.
What’s The Best Boiler For Your Situation?
When deciding on a new boiler, take into consideration
- The size of your home
- Amount of radiators in your home
- Your hot water requirements
There are different sizes and different types of Boiler, one of our engineers will determine the best size of Boiler for your home.
Boiler Sizes
Boiler sizes include
- 24-27kw
- 28-32kw
- 35-42kw
KW is the measure of power. The 24 to 27 kW are best for small homes of 1-2 bedrooms and one bathroom. These small boilers will cope with up to 10 radiators.
The 28-32 kW boilers are for average-sized homes, a couple of bathrooms, and up to 15 radiators; the 28-32 is the most common sized Boiler.
For large homes of 5+ bedrooms and 3+ bathrooms, install a 35-40 kW Boiler, which will cope with a large heating demand and hot water demand. Enough for up to 20 radiators.
Boiler Location
Location’s an important consideration. Boilers do take up some space it’s best to house them discreetly out of sight. Boilers are commonly hidden behind kitchen cabinets or in cupboards. An Engineer will advise you on the best location when installing a boiler for the first time. When it comes to boiler replacements, we usually keep the location the same to save time, money, and disruption. If you want your new Boiler in a new location, then, of course, we’ll do it for you.
Boiler Types
Once the size and locations established, next, we’ll determine the best type of Boiler for your home, taking into consideration the available space and your hot water/heating requirements.
There are three types of Boiler
- System
- Combi
- Regular (sometimes referred to as traditional boilers)
System Boilers
System boilers work great in standard 3 to 4-bedroom Essex Homes. Providing the capacity to supply the radiators, serve more than one bathroom, and supply hot water taps simultaneously.
A storage cylinder ensures there’s always enough hot water for your home and your family.
System boilers are combined with unvented cylinders. A pressurised cylinder takes water straight from the mains supply offer better pressure than older style vented cylinders (gravity fed instead of pressurised)
System boilers are fairly straightforward to install. They take up more room than combi boilers but less room than regular traditional boilers as there’s no need for a feed and expansion tank.
Combi Boilers
Combi boilers are the best option for the smaller home, no cylinder or expansion tank’s required. A pump’s located inside the Boiler, so the system doesn’t require a traditional bulky central heating pump.
The central heating system requires only the combi boiler, pipes, and radiators. The compact design allows for easy fitting and servicing, taking up a minimal amount of space.
Combi boilers supply hot water on demand. Cold water’s heated as it runs through the Boiler via a heating element.
Combi boilers make up 50% of all new boilers fitted in Essex homes.
Regular Boilers
Regular, also known as traditional boilers, are good for large homes with multiple bathrooms. A regular boiler system incorporates a hot water cylinder, cold water storage tank, and an expansion tank.
Older Essex Homes often feature a regular boiler system. It’s recommended that smaller homes and medium-sized homes with a traditional system upgrade to a system or combi boiler for better energy efficiency and space-saving.
A regular/traditional system’s only needed for homes with large hot water demand.
Makes Of Boiler
The make of the Boiler you choose will depend on your budget and your preferences. People tend to have their favourite make of Boiler. We are Worcester Bosch accredited installers but install, service, and repair almost all other makes of Boiler, which include.
System Considerations
Once we have the type, make and size of your Boiler established, we can look at the rest of your central heating system.
For example, you may want to
- Keep the system as it is
- Upgrade central heating controls
- Upgrade your radiators
- Keep your existing radiators and upgrade the valves
