T M Hughes i can highly recommend for your electrical work. I had no idea who to ask to sort out the failed ceiling light in our bathroom. Impressed by the reviews & their website, i phoned & spoke to Andy. He arranged for Paul to be at my home the next day. Paul arrived next day. He fitted new lights to the bathroom & toilet ceiling in one hour. All work nicely carried out, no problem. A few weeks later, Andy & Paul arrived to fit a new PIR light to the side wall of our house. Again, a lovely professional job done in an hour. Had air conditioning installed in 3 bedrooms , Installed new shower screen and bath panel and resealed the bath. Also had new radiator fitted in our bedroom. All the work was completed to a high standard all the guys were friendly and happy. Would have no hesitation in recommending them.

How to Prevent Burst Pipes At Home & Work

Check Your Mains Stopcock Is Working

Make sure you know where your mains stopcock is and that it’s in full working order. If you ever have a pipe burst, you can immediately switch off the mains water supply and minimise damage to your home/business.

Drain The System

If you’re going to leave your home or commercial premises unattended for a long period of time over winter, get your central heating system and pipes drained.

Fix Any Leaks

Leaking taps and pipes (no matter how small) can cause pipes to burst in cold weather, check your taps and pipework for leaks. If you have any leaks, get them fixed before Winter.

Get Your Boiler Serviced Annually

Annual Boiler servicing reduces the risk of breakdown, a boiler breakdown in cold weather can lead to frozen and split pipes.

Insulate Vulnerable Pipes

Any pipes in cold non-heated areas should be insulated with pipe lagging. Water cylinders and tanks in cold areas should have an insulation jacket.

Leave Your Central Heating On

Burst pipes usually occur when the water inside freezes and expands. Simply leaving your heating on during cold snaps will prevent pipes from bursting.
