Boiler Servicing
All Boiler manufacturers recommend Annual Boiler services because a service keeps the Boiler running smoothly and prevents unnecessary wear, tear and even damage.
Boiler breakdowns are frequent in the colder months, and we have observed over the years that most breakdowns occur with Boilers that haven’t been serviced regularly.
No one wants to go without heating or hot water, especially during the colder months. Also, no one wants to waste energy needlessly, which happens with neglected, unserviced Boilers.
Look after your Boiler, your family and yourself with an annual TM Hughes Boiler service.
Book our Harlow-based Boiler engineer to visit at a convenient time who will arrive when agreed and present the necessary Gas Safe ID so you can rest assured a professional undertakes the service.
Servicing is undertaken to a strict procedure that ensures the Boilers are thoroughly cleaned and tested for function and safety. Our engineers have done many services over the years and know how to service a Boiler swiftly, efficiently, and tidily.
Once the service is complete, your Boiler will run at the highest possible energy efficiency (for your Boiler), resulting in reduced heating bills.
You can relax knowing that a Boiler breakdown is unlikely as we’ll uncover any underlying issues during boiler service. We’ll ensure your Boiler doesn’t have a carbon monoxide risk as testing is undertaken during the service.
If any faults are found during servicing, we can usually rectify them there and then. Otherwise, we can return at a later date to do the repairs. Any extra costs will be agreed upon before additional work is carried out.
The Boiler service is accompanied by a record that you can use to validate your home breakdown insurance or Boiler warranties.
Our engineer may also offer recommendations to get the most out of your central heating system. Feel free to ask our engineer any questions you may have.
We service all Boiler types, including Regular, System, Combi, Oil, LPG, and Electric powered Boilers.
We service most Boiler makes, which includes Alpha, Ariston, Baxi, Ferolli, Keston, Potterton, Saunier Duval, Vaillant, Glow-Worm Grundfos, Heatline, Ideal, Viessman, Vokera, Worcester Bosch and more.

Boiler Issues
Boilers can break down for various reasons, but a few stand out. These are common issues we deal with when repairing Boilers in Harlow.
Our engineer will likely have a good idea of the issue and how it must be solved once you tell us what your Boiler’s doing.
Boiler pressure is significant and one of the first things that’s checked. Boilers that don’t maintain their pressure are leaking, blocked, have a failing pump or maybe a faulty pressure valve.
All the above will cause your Boiler to switch off continuously. Our engineer will locate the fault and deal with it. Blockages are removed, leaky seals are tightened, and faulty pumps and valves are replaced.
If you have noticed corrosion on your Boiler casing, there’s likely an internal leak caused by worn seals or loose pipework. More severe leaks can spring out of places such as the heat exchanger.
Always get leaks seen, to. Your Boiler may run ok now, but it will fail eventually, which could end up causing more significant damage and costing you more.
Blockages are caused by debris such as limescale, the inevitable consequence of heating water. Pieces of limescale can build up in the pipes, restricting flow and causing Boiler pressure to drop.
Worse still, limescale blockages can occur in the heat exchanger. You’ll know that your Boiler will make a whistling sound like a boiling kettle. This is a severe problem that needs immediate attention. If your heat exchanger breaks, you’ll probably need a new Boiler.
Prevention is always better than a cure. Suppose your Boiler emits loud noises that warn that something isn’t right, and an engineer needs to look. It could just be excessive air trapped in the system, which is easily rectified. Or the noise could be caused by something more severe, such as a severe blockage.
Following a blockage removal, you may consider a power flush to cleanse your system of all limescale and debris so no further blockages occur.
You may also consider power flushing if your radiators have poor heat output, only getting hot at the middle and top, or worse, just the top. This shows your system has a debris build-up that’s preventing your radiators from functioning correctly.
A common Boiler fault is the pilot light keeps blowing out. The light isn’t blowing out. It is caused by a faulty thermocouple, an essential safety device that regulates the gas flow. When they reach the end of their life, they keep shutting off, so it will need replacing to get your Boiler back working.
