When designing and building bathrooms, we split each area into different sections, which includes 

• Heating
• Flooring
• Walls
• Bathroom Suites
• Shower & Enclosure
• Taps
• Lighting
• Storage

Heating

Before we fit your bathroom, we get your Heating in place. Bathroom heating ranges from conventional radiators in standard, traditional or modern styles.

Heated towel radiators are often fitted in bathrooms as they are convenient, providing the whole family with warm towels.

Underfloor Heating can be fitted and work well with conventional radiators (and towel rails).

Underfloor Heating can be fitted to work with your central heating system or to run off electricity.

Flooring

Firstly, bathroom flooring needs to be resistant to water and non-slippery.

Porcelain Tiles are the first choice for bathrooms. They look good, are available in thousands of different designs and shapes, and are very hard-wearing and hard to crack.

Porcelain tiles can, however, be slippery when wet. Some are grippy and textured by design. 

Vynil is the second most popular bathroom flooring and can be fitted off a roll or as tiles. Vynil is available in hundreds of designs, colours and styles, and tiles get slippery when wet.

Vinyl is thinner than tiles, which is advantageous for underfloor heating. In addition, vinyl is more robust than tiles as it cannot be cracked. Vinyl is pretty much indestructible when on the floor. Finally, vinyl is cheaper than floor tiles.

Other less common materials include concrete, which is trendy but intensive to install and requires some maintenance. Slate tiles and marble suit many modern bathrooms but are pricier than conventional flooring materials.

Rubber is excellent for young children and the elderly, it’s soft and non-slip. Rubber is like vinyl. It can be fitted as tiles or off a roll.

Engineered wood is another option, the least favoured of all flooring, but it suits some bathroom styles.

Walls

Bathrooms must be waterproof around the shower/bath areas and water/moisture resistant in all other areas.

Flooring tiles are the number one choice for bathroom walls, available in various shapes and thousands of designs/colours.

Tiles are hard-wearing and water-resistant. Most wall tiles are ceramic, easier to cut and fit than floor tiles. They are generally cheaper also. As they are not walked on, the superior anti-crack properties of porcelain are not required, although wall tiles are available in porcelain if you want them.

Wall panels have become extremely popular in recent years. They are waterproof, simple to fit, and available in hundreds of styles/colours to suit any bathroom design.

Wall panels come in various grades and are available in PVC, laminate or acrylic. They are nearly always a cheaper option than tiles.

Most bathroom areas can be painted in any colour of your choice to match the design/style of your wall materials, flooring, suite fixtures, and fittings. In addition, bathroom paint is water and moisture-resistant.

Treated wood can also be fitted to the walls, but not shower/bath areas. 

Bathroom Suites

Once we have your Heating, flooring and walls in place, the tone is set for your bathroom nest. Next, you need a suite that compliments the design.

Bathroom suites include a bath, basin, toilet and often shower cubicle. Most suites look either ‘traditional’ with rounded edges and features or ‘modern’ square with less prominent features.

Toilets and basins are generally ceramic, while baths are steel or acrylic. All hard-wearing materials will last for many years.

Other materials are available, such as copper, stone and stainless steel. However, they are not the norm, mainly used for unique bathroom designs, and are more expensive than conventional materials.

Baths, Basins, Toilets and Shower enclosures are available in various sizes to suit the size and shape of all bathroom spaces.

Baths vary in length and width, and ‘shower baths’ include an enclosure and a larger section for the shower area.

Toilets can be freestanding or wall-hung. The cisterns can be built into the toilet or hidden behind the wall.

There are many options for basins, including pedestals, countertops, wall hung, countersunks and more.

Showers

Most bathrooms include a shower. The shower will be over the bath or in an enclosure.

Mixer showers are often fitted to baths. In addition, we install the latest thermostatic mixer taps that ensure the temperature remains constant and safe for use.

An electric shower can be wired into your bathroom. Electric showers heat cold water on demand, separate from your conventional Boiler heated water, so you can still have a shower if your Boiler ever fails.

Power showers can be fitted in some bathrooms (although not all depend on your heating system). A pump provides the most powerful, invigorating shower possible.

We also fit Eco showers that save up to 50% water, which is good for the environment and your energy spend.

Taps

Taps are fitted to your bath and basin to complement the design of your bathroom. Like bathroom suites, taps are available in many traditional and modern designs.

Edgy taps made from unique materials are also available for extravagant bathroom designs.

Taps can be single hot and cold, mixer (where the water’s mixed within the tap) and thermostatic, where the temperature remains constant.

Lighting

Bathroom lighting sets the mood and tone of your bathroom while withstanding the rigours of heat and moisture.

Lighting is fitted recessed or semi-recessed into the ceiling. We’ll ensure the light design, bulb colours, and strength complement the overall design of your bathroom.

Task lighting is also fitted above mirrors to aid with grooming.

Storage

Storage is an essential consideration for all bathrooms. You need storage for your towels, shampoo, soap, and bathroom cleaning products.

Storage units that also incorporate your toilet and basin can be fitted. Alternatively, storage units can be equipped, freestanding, and cupboards can be created/built.
