Disconnecting Your Old Cooker
Our engineer will arrive at the agreed time. The first job is disconnecting your old cooker and pulling it out of the space.
Gas Connections
Before installing the new cooker commences, our engineer will ensure the new cooker will be within 1.5 meters of the gas line and that the connection is suitable.
If the connection is old and not suitable for your new cooker, a new connection is fitted to the gas line. A new connection will ensure the safe fitting of your new cooker.
The Hot Zone
The area around your cooker is known as the hot zone. This area measures 750mm above the hob and 50mm on each cooker side.
The hot zone must be clear of combustible obstructions such as cables, trunking, shelving, kitchen units etc.
Before installation, our engineer will check the hot zone is clear, so the cookers are fitted safely and legally and don’t pose a fire risk.
Fitting Your New Cooker
Once our engineer is satisfied the connection is sound and the hot zone is clear and safe, your gas cooker is unpacked, connected and moved into place.
The gas supply is switched on, and the connection is tested for gas leaks.
Our engineer will switch on your new gas cooker and test it to ensure it’s working fully as per the cooker manufacturer’s instructions.
Gas Appliance Installation Certificate
Once the cooker installation is complete, our engineer will write you a Gas Appliance Installation Certificate.
Keep hold of this important document. You may need it to validate your cooker warranty and make a claim in the event of a fault.
