TM Hughes & Son Gas Services Ltd undertake Gas Cooker Installations & Disconnections in Romford and the surrounding areas.
Fitting a Gas Cooker is a professional job that an experienced Gas Safe Registered engineer must undertake.
If you need a new gas cooker or hob fitted or an old one disconnected, we can help you with our gas cooker services, which ensure the correct, swift and inexpensive fitting of your new gas appliance.
Here’s how it works
- Contact us, let us know the type of gas cooker you have and book a time and date for one of our engineers to visit.
- When our engineer comes round on the day, he will present his gas-safe ID so you can rest assured of a professional fit for your new cooker.
- The engineer inspects the gas line, connection and hot zone to ensure it’s safe and suitable for your new cooker.
- The gas supply is switched off, and your old cooker or hob is disconnected and removed.
- Your new cooker or hob is unpacked, connected to the gas supply and put into position.
- The gas supply is reinstated, and the engineer tests for leaking gas.
- The cooker is switched on and tested to ensure everything works correctly, as stated by the manufacturer.
- A gas appliance installation certificate is written and issued
- The engineer takes payment, tidies up and leaves.
You must keep the gas appliance installation certificate. You will need it for the warranty in the event of a fault. Gas cooker warranties stipulate a Gas Safe Registered engineer must undertake to fit. The record is proof.

The ‘Hot Zone’ must be clear of combustible materials. This area is 750mm above the hob and 50mm on either side.
The area must be clear of
- Kitchen Units
- Wallpaper
- Wood Cladding
- Shelving
- Switches & Sockets
- Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Alarms
- Cables & Trunking

- Any other obstruction in the area
