The Guarantee Has Expired
New boilers come with a guarantee that they will remain valid for several years (as long as the boiler is fitted by a gas-safe registered engineer and is serviced annually). Once the guarantee has expired, you may get a few more years out of your Boiler.
However, your Boiler is less efficient at that stage of its life, costing more money to run and more likely to break down. Once the guarantee expires, you are responsible for repairing the Boiler if it breaks down (unless your home insurance covers it)
