TM Hughes & Son Install, Service & Repair Underfloor Heating systems in South Woodham Ferrers.
All work is undertaken by Gas Safe Registered heating engineers who are fully insured and have many years of experience in all types of Underfloor Heating systems.
Underfloor Heating installations have become common in the South Woodham Area in recent years, offering excellent heat output, energy efficiency, and other desirable benefits.
Underfloor Heating can be fitted in any type of property. Wet pipes can be sealed into the new floor or fitted on top or underneath existing floors.
Wet pipes or electric coils can be screeded into the new floor if you have a renovation.
For pre-existing floors, pipes can be laid in specially shaped tiles or metal plates or between the floorboard joists of floating floors.
Whatever type of home and floor you have, we will offer an Underfloor Heating solution that matches perfectly whether you want a single room done or your whole home.
Once installed, your floor will heat the room evenly throughout the space.
Radiators are no longer needed once Underfloor Heating has been installed, so you’ll gain some wall space, and the room will appear larger.
Underfloor Heating systems consume less energy than traditional radiator heating systems. The pipes are well insulated, and the insulation retains heat for many hours, keeping your room warm. You should notice a saving on your energy bills also.
Underfloor Heating is very difficult to damage, the pipes are out of the way under the floor, and the few working components are above the ground, usually in a discreet cupboard.

If you want a large area or several rooms heated, a wet style system would probably be the best solution for you.
Wet Underfloor Heating systems involve laying pipes in screed, on top of an existing floor or between joists, whatever works best for your home.
The pipes are insulated to ensure the best possible heat retention and energy efficiency.
The system is called ‘wet’ because the pipes circulate hot water, which heats the insulation and your floor.
The pipes are fed with hot water from your Boiler. Most Boilers and central heating systems can be used with Underfloor Heating.
If you don’t have a Boiler in your property or only want a small area of your home fitted with an Underfloor Heating and Electric system is the alternative.
An electric system works with heated electric coils that run under the floor or even your flooring and is powered by the mains electricity.
Various types of Electric Underfloor Heating are available, ranging from single electric coils that can be shaped to any floor space and sit under the flooring to preset coils in large insulated mats screeded under the floor.
Both Electric and Wet Underfloor Heating systems will last a very long time. You can expect 35+ years of use out of each system.
Wet Systems will need a little maintenance at this time. Electric systems will require virtually zero maintenance.
Wet Systems score better in energy efficiency, while electric systems are cheaper to buy and install but cost more to run.
TM Hughes engineers fit both wet and electric Underfloor Heating systems.
Underfloor Heating Servicing & Repairs
We offer Underfloor Heating Servicing & Repairs, which applies mainly to wet style systems as Electric Underfloor Heating shouldn’t require any maintenance.
Wet Underfloor Heating systems include moving parts and have to deal with water, so some maintenance will be required.
Unless they are accidentally damaged, underfloor pipes should never cause you any trouble (unless they are accidentally damaged). Pipes will last several decades.
The only thing that needs attention is the manifold and connections, valves and pump.
A yearly check is recommended where an engineer will check all the connections on your manifold, ensuring they are tight and not leaking water.
The pump, valves and controls will also be cleaned and tested to ensure they are in full working order and set correctly.
Pumps, Valves and central heating controls will likely need replacing. Pumps and valves can wear out, but these parts are easy to remove and replace, restoring your Underfloor Heating system to its full working order.
Damaged Underfloor pipes are rare, but if one is accidently split or pierced, we will quickly find the damage with a thermal imaging camera, get to the pipe, and repair it.
Another issue you may encounter is an airlock in the pipe, similar to airlocks in radiators. One of our engineers will bleed your system if you have an airlock.
