Power Flush Services In And Around Loughton
TM Hughes & Son Gas Services Ltd offers Powerflushing in Loughton.
Powerflushing is a procedure that brings your central heating system back to life, leading to better radiator heat output, increased energy efficiency, lower fuel bills while reducing the odds of a Boiler breakdown.
Powerflushing is undertaken by experienced Gas Safe registered engineers with many years of experience in cleansing, central heating systems.
We use industry-standard Kamco machines and chemicals to do this specialist procedure.
Why Powerflushing Is Necessary
Boilers create hot water to Power your central heating system, comprised of steel and copper components.
Rust and limescale particles are created by heat, flowing water, and the heating system’s metal parts. These particles settle in the bottom of radiators and pipes, solidify and gradually build up.
This build-up is known in the plumbing and heating industry as ‘Sludge’, an unpleasant substance that prevents the correct flow of water and radiators from heating entirely.
Heating systems have to work harder to produce heat, costing more to run and placing more strain on pumps and the Boiler, leading to expensive damage.
All systems will create sludge, it’s inevitable, but you can keep your system clean with Powerflushing.
Powerflushing Benefits
Powerflushing has many benefits, which include…
Completely Clears System
Powerflushing removes all sludge and debris from central heating systems, all unwanted material that creates inefficiency and causes problems.
One Visit
Powerflushing only takes one visit, the procedure only takes a few hours and once done won’t need doing again for at least five years.
Fast Heating With Full Heat Output
Once your system has been Powerflushed, your radiators will heat quicker and become hot all over, whereas before, they may have been only getting hot at the top and/or middle and top.
Better Energy Efficiency & Lower Fuel Bills
Once your system’s flushed, the water will flow freely and won’t be inhibited by sludge, your radiators heat quicker, and your Boiler doesn’t have to work as hard. The result? Less fuel’s consumed, which means better energy efficiency and lower fuel bills.
Quieter & Smoother Running
Treated systems usually run quieter, with no more annoying noises, which you may have experienced before Powerflushing.
Sludge Prevention
Once your system’s clean, an inhibitor is added, helping to prevent corrosion and sludge build-up in the future.
New Boiler Warranty Validation
Boiler warranties generally stipulate that they are only valid if the system’s been Powerflushed before installation.
A Powerlflush will validate the warranty for your new Boiler.
Protection From Boiler Failure
Boilers running on a clean system are far less likely to fail than those built up with sludge and debris. Likewise, after Powerflushing, your Boiler’s far less likely to break down.
How Powerflushing Works
- Powerflushing involves connecting a Kamco Powerflush Machine to your central heating system and pumping chemicals mixed with water through at a rate of 170 litres per minute.
- As the chemical/water mix circulates, the built-up sludge is loosened, dissolved before being captured, filtered and removed by the machine.
- The process is continued until the system’s wholly cleared and free of all sludge. The time it takes to clear your system will depend on the systems size, complexity and condition.
- Severely sludge clogged systems will take longer to clear than those moderately built-up. Generally, Powerflushing takes a few hours.
- The procedure generates a fair amount of dirty wastewater, which our engineers will take away and dispose of.
- Once your central heating system’s clear, it’s refilled with fresh water and a corrosion inhibitor to aid in the prevention of any sludge build-ups in the future.
- Your system is switched on and tested. Then, our engineer will demonstrate the fast heating and full heat output of your radiators.
Time For A Powerflush?
The following symptoms determine sludged systems that require Powerflushing.
Cold Radiators
If you have any cold radiators and other radiators are getting hot, then the valves need checking.
If the valves are ok, then another possibility is that the radiators are built up with sludge to the point they won’t emit heat anymore.
Partially Hot Radiators
Radiators should be hot all over. If any of your radiators are not hot all over, try bleeding them.
If any of your radiators are only getting hot at the top and not the bottom, then the radiators could have a sludge build-up.
Sludge builds up from the bottom. The higher the sludge, the less your radiator will heat up.
Radiators Heat Slow
Radiators on a clean system will heat very quickly. Conversely, slow heating radiators are a sign of sludge in the central heating system.
Brown Or Black Water
When you bleed your radiators, take note of the watercolour. Don’t worry if it’s grey. This is normal, and if it’s clear, even better.
Now, if the waters brown or black, then your system certainly could do with a Powerflush.
Leaky Radiators
Corroded radiators will eventually leak as they are worn away from the inside out by dirty old and corrosive water.
If you have a leaky radiator, it will need replacing, and your system could do with a power flush.
Boiler Issues
Components within the Boiler cause most Boiler issues. Sometimes issues are caused by poor water flow caused by sludge build-up or limescale blockages. Powerflushing will help.
