Blockages

Every point in your kitchen and bathroom where water comes from has a waste, so used water can exit the drain without flooding your home. Waste serves toilets, showers, baths, basins, sinks, washing machines, dishwashers and Saniflo’s. Sometimes, waste pipes block or are in the process of blocking. If your toilets are filling up with excess water or water drains very slowly from showers, baths, sinks, etc., you have a waste system blockage. Try unblocking with a plunger, which usually works on less severe blockages. If you can’t shift a blockage, our local Plumber will clear it in minutes. Never ignore a blockage. They’ll never go away independently and will only worsen before blocking completely.

Saniflo

We offer a full Saniflo Installation service to the residents of Billericay. The invention of the Saniflo system enabled the installation of Toilets anywhere in the home. In days gone by, Toilets needed to be fitted next to the soil stack, so Toilet installation was restricted. This changed when Saniflo released their Macerator equipment. The macerator pump used by Saniflos breaks down toilet waste into a slurry pumped into the sewer. Toilets can be fitted anywhere in the home or business premises with a Saniflo system. They are also compatible with washing machines, sinks, showers and baths.

Water Tank Services

Do you need a water tank installed or replaced? No problem! Our Billericay Plumbers have installed many over the years and will guide you on the best-sized tank and the best location. Every situation is different. The size of your tank will depend on your water system, and the shape will depend on the space you have available. We always ensure tanks are placed high. Boilers

We are Worcester Bosch Accredited engineers. We also install, service, and repair boilers made by Alpha, Ariston, Baxi, Ferolli, Glow-worm, Grundfos, Heat-line, Ideal, Keston, Potterton, Saunier Duval, Vaillant, Viessman, and Vokera.

The best condensing Boilers are incredibly efficient, running at 90+ % efficiency. As boilers age, they lose their effectiveness and cost more to run. Wastage is also not good for the environment. The Boiler is an essential part of the central heating system. Without a boiler, there will be no hot water for your radiators and taps (unless you have a cylinder with an immersion heater installed). Install a suitable Boiler. Look after it with an annual service and a powerflush every five years. Then, your Boiler will last a long time and run well.

Combi Boilers

Combi Boilers provide hot water for showers and taps. They don’t use storage cylinders, which is useful for saving space. Combi Boilers heat water instantly when the hot taps or heating turns on. They use a built-in pump to move the water around your radiators. Perfect for smaller homes, they are simpler and cheaper to install than system Boilers.

System Boilers

Larger homes with more people require more hot water. Often, a Combi won’t meet the demands, so a System Boiler is the preferred option. A pressurised cylinder works with the Boiler to store and distribute hot water around the home. If more than one person uses a tap, the hot water supply is unaffected. Perfect for medium—to large-sized homes.

Regular Boilers

Regular or traditional boilers used to be the standard for all homes. They used a vented cylinder with water, feed, and expansion tanks. Modern Systems and Combi Boilers have replaced regular boilers in recent years. But they are still installed in homes that need hot water. The conventional system can cope with the largest hot water demands and is perfect for larger houses.

What Boiler?

When upgrading existing Boilers, you can install the same type. Or, upgrade to a kind that better suits your situation. Your choice of Boiler will depend entirely on your requirements and existing system. Older systems can be modified to accept new boiler types. Heating Optimisation

Heating systems comprise various parts that work together to heat your home. Each component must be appropriately set to get the most out of your heating system. Resetting controls and valves often achieve perfect balance.

Sometimes, upgrading parts is required. For example, you may have problems reaching your preferred heat in each room if you have old radiator valves and an old, inaccurate thermostat that can no longer measure temperature accurately.

Controls & Valves

We could upgrade your radiator valves to the latest thermostatic ones. They let you set different temperatures in different rooms. We could even upgrade your controls to the latest smart controls, enabling you to set each room’s temperature while you’re still at work. When you come home, your house will be heated perfectly.

Central Heating Components

Every central heating system has various parts. Combi systems are the simplest, consisting of the Boiler, pipes, thermostat, radiators, and valves. Old, regular systems are more complicated, with added pumps, cylinders, immersion heater feeds, and expansion tanks. Every part must be appropriately set, something one of our engineers can do for you.

Boiler & System Pressure

The boiler pressure must be set correctly. Your heating system will only work right if it is high enough. Your Boiler will keep switching off too high, causing issues (and even damage) to it and the rest of the system.

Radiators

We have already discussed radiator valves. We also install and upgrade all radiators, including flat panel, designer, column, low surface, and towel radiators. We can help whether you want your radiators changed, upgraded, moved, or new radiators added—people’s living requirements change. Sometimes, old radiator positions are inconvenient. So, radiators need moving.

Your radiators may be blocked with sludge. Dirty water when you bleed them is a good indication. Powerflushing can remedy this, completely clearing the system.

Pumps

Most central heating pumps have three settings. If you find your Heating inadequate, turning up the pump can help, as long as it doesn’t lead to too much pressure in the system. Pumps fail eventually and are usually the first to go on a central heating system. However, pumps are easy to replace and a simple job for our engineers.

Leaking Water

Leaking water is usually caused by a burst pipe. If water leaks from anywhere (e.g., from the ceiling), the first thing to do is shut off the main water supply at the main stopcock. The main stopcock is usually located in the kitchen (not always, though) and controls the water flow to your home from the main water supply in the street.

Ensure you know where your mains stopcock is. The last time you want to look for it is in an emergency (you’ll be surprised how many people this happens to). Once the water is shut off, any further damage will be prevented. You may also have to shut off the water in your tank. We can advise you on this over the phone.

Burst pipes are a common winter problem. Uninsulated pipes are prone to freezing, and frozen water expands, often enough to split pipes. Ensure that you insulate your pipes. If you find one is frozen, get it defrosted ASAP. We can also insulate and defrost pipes. This stops a frozen pipe from turning into a burst pipe.

Gas Leaks

Gas Leaks are severe. If you smell gas, shut it off at the Shut Off Valve. Find out if you need to find out where this is in your home. Then, evacuate everyone. Don’t smoke or turn on lights or appliances. Sparks can cause gas to ignite, and large gas leaks can cause huge explosions, so don’t leave anything to chance.

Open all windows and doors in the home (only if it’s safe to do so) and wait for an engineer to arrive. Do not return to your home or switch on the gas until one of our Gas Safe Registered Engineers has told you it’s safe.

Carbon Monoxide

Any home that has a fuel-burning appliance must have a Carbon Monoxide alarm. Carbon monoxide is invisible, scentless, and can kill, so ensure you’re protected. If a carbon monoxide alarm starts beeping in your home, get yourself, your family and anyone else on the property out immediately and call us. Do not re-enter until one of our Gas Safe Registered Engineers has checked your appliance and property and given you the all-clear. Call an ambulance if anyone’s vomiting, dizzy, or has headaches, confusion, or nausea. These are all signs of carbon monoxide poisoning.
