How Does An Installation Work?
The first step is to book a time to undertake the disconnection or installation (or both). Give us a call, let us know your requirements, and we’ll give you a price. Prices vary on the work that needs doing this way. We can provide the best possible prices.
The engineer will arrive at the agreed time before the installation begins a safety check of the area.
Hobs need clearance, so the heat doesn’t melt or cause anything to combust—750mm’s required above the hob and at least 50mm each side of the hob.
Nothing flammable can be in this area which must be clear of sockets, shelves, kitchen units, other appliances, electrical cable and combustible wall coverings such as wallpaper or wood panelling. The areas thoroughly analysed. If your area doesn’t meet the requirements, adjustments will have to be made to make the installation safe and legal.
Gas cookers need to be close to the gas line (within 1.5 meters), and the gas connection will need to be in good order. The distance and connections checked for suitability. Adjustments can be made if necessary.
Once the engineers satisfied the cooker areas suitable, the gas supply is switched off so the installation can commence. The old cookers pulled out and disconnected from the gas line.
Your new cookers unpacked (if required) and put into place—the cookers connected to the gas line the connections checked for tightness. The gas supply is switched on.
The connections checked for gas leaks before your new cookers switched on and tested. We check everything working, as stated by the manufacturer’s instructions.
Finally, gas installation certificates are written. Keep this certificate to validate the manufacturer’s warranty and any home breakdown cover you may have (both usually stipulate the cooker must be fitted by a Gas Safe Registered Engineer)
