When our combi boiler recently failed (terminally) I gave Terry a ring and asked if they could fit a new boiler quickly. He had provided a quote for a replacement about 6 months ago and he agreed to honour the price. It was fitted within the week. Terry and Pawel did a superb job on the day. Terry was very supportive throughout.

As always great service and was good to have Pavel again servicing the combi. He's always spot on with information on what he's done and health of the combi.

I was able to get an engineer booked at short notice, at a specific time, rather than just a vague window.

The engineer was on time, and carried out the work promptly and efficiently, and for the advertised price.

Good job all round, very happy with this company.

Their plumber Terry was punctual, and effectively replaced our leaking hot water cylinder, including nice tidy plumbing of new pipework and new valves where necessary.

Welcome to TM Hughes & Son, local Plumbers offering professional Tap Installation and Repairs in Maldon.

Whether you’re looking to install a new Tap in your kitchen, bathroom, or commercial space, or seeking repairs for a leaky or broken Tap, our expert team of plumbers is on hand to help you.

With years of experience, we have earned a reputation for quality, integrity, and customer satisfaction in and around Maldon.

Each of our plumbers is fully insured and certified and adheres to the highest standards of workmanship.

Tap Installation

The installation begins with selecting the right Tap and then turning off the water supply to avoid any potential flooding. The next steps involve removing the old Tap, if applicable, preparing the new one, and installing it correctly.

This often includes aligning the Tap with the sink or basin holes, securing it tightly, connecting the water supply pipes, and testing the Tap to ensure it functions without leaks.

Types Of Taps We Install

  • Pillar Taps: These traditional Taps come as a pair, one for hot water and one for cold. Each has its own spout and needs two separate holes in the sink or basin.
  • Mixer Taps: These taps combine hot and cold water and deliver water from a single spout, allowing you to adjust the water temperature more efficiently. They are ideal for bathrooms and kitchens.
  • Monobloc Taps: These are mixer Taps where the hot and cold water controls are part of the same unit, typically requiring a single tap hole. Due to their sleek design, Monobloc Taps are a common choice for modern kitchens and bathrooms.
  • Quarter turn Taps: These Taps use ceramic disc technology, allowing them to be turned on and off with a 90-degree handle turn. They are long-lasting and less likely to develop drips or leaks.
  • Wall-mounted Taps: These Taps are mounted directly onto the wall instead of a basin or sink, providing a streamlined, minimalist look. Wall-mounted taps can be used with countertop sinks, bathtubs, or washbasins.
  • Pull-out Spray Taps: These kitchen tap types have spray heads that can be pulled out of the tap itself. This feature is helpful for rinsing dishes or washing fruits and vegetables.
  • Touchless Taps: Also known as sensor Taps, a motion sensor activates these and don’t require manual operation. They are particularly hygienic and are often found in public restrooms, but they are increasingly popular in domestic kitchens and bathrooms for their water-saving benefits.

Tap Repairs

Tap repairs include tackling leaks, worn-out washers, and faulty cartridges.

When a Tap begins to drip, it often signifies that the washer, a small rubber part that seals the water flow when the tap is turned off, needs to be replaced.

The cartridge, which regulates the flow and temperature of the water in mixer taps, can become damaged or worn out, resulting in leaks or difficulty adjusting the water temperature.
