Welcome to TM Hughes & Son. We offer bathroom design and installation in Witham and the surrounding areas.

A Skilled Team
We have a skilled team. It includes bathroom designers, plumbers, gas-safe heating engineers, tilers, electricians, and carpenters. They cover all aspects of bathroom design and installation.
Our team have installed many bathrooms in Witham over the past three decades. We install all types of bathrooms on all budget ranges.
Our bathrooms are built to last while providing reliable service daily for many years.
Carefully Quoted, Planed & Fitted
All bathrooms are carefully quoted. We have good relationships with suppliers and can source the required materials at the best possible prices.
We plan and undertake all bathroom installations with great care. We do this to ensure they are fitted quickly and neatly. We aim to cause you and your family as little disruption as possible.
The first step is to book a free, no-obligation survey and get a quote from our bathroom fitter.
Free Bathroom Installation Survey & Quote
No two bathrooms are the same. They are all different shapes and sizes and fitted with different grades of materials, fixtures and fittings.
Designing and quoting a bathroom properly requires a visit from our friendly bathroom fitter.
Please book an appointment for our bathroom fitter to visit your property. Once there, the fitter will inspect your bathroom space, plumbing, and heating system and take measurements.
The fitter will then go through all the different parts of your new Bathroom to establish precisely what you want.
The Look & Style Of Your Bathroom
You may know precisely how you want your Bathroom to look and what colours, textures, features, fixtures, and fittings you like. In this case, we can quote and build a bathroom to your specifications.
Otherwise, our bathroom fitter will suggest styles, looks, and the materials required to achieve the design.
Bathroom styles come from choosing the right flooring and wall materials. You also need the right suit and fittings that match the colours.

Examples of bathroom designs/styles include
Basic
Popular in rented properties or for those who want a bathroom on a budget. It usually includes a basic suite, wall panels, single-colour tiles, and vinyl flooring.
Coastal
The Living by the Sea look utilises a lot of blue and white. Tiles and wood panelling are often fitted.
Contemporary
Clean, modern primary colours with large rectangular tiles and a modern square suite.
Country
Light colours with wood panelling, a traditional suite, radiators, and taps.
Mediterranean
This is a great style for those who like brighter and bolder colours and patterns. It feels like you’re in a Spanish villa.
Scandinavian
A modern suite with lots of white and creams for an ample, light and airy-looking space.
Victorian
Victorian Bathrooms use black-and-white tiles, solid or with patterns, a traditional suite with appropriate taps, and a high cistern Toilet.
These are only a few design ideas. Any look is possible. We can also recreate a bathroom design you have seen online or in a magazine.
Bathroom Plumbing & Heating
Once your old Bathroom has been stripped out, we install the plumbing and heating pipes (if needed) for your new bathroom suite, shower, and heating.
We can use your existing pipework or run new pipes if the bathroom fixtures are changing position.
We can fit heated towel rails, radiators and underfloor heating.
Heated Towel Rails
Heated towel rails are popular as they are convenient for storing and keeping multiple towels warm.
Heated towel rails work well with underfloor heating. Underfloor heating completely warms your Bathroom from the floor up.
Underfloor Heating
We have gas-safe registered engineers and electricians to fit wet or electric underfloor heating.
Wet underfloor heating works with your boiler while electric systems are connected to the main electric supply.
Radiators
Suppose heated towel rails and underfloor heating don’t suit your bathroom design. In that case, we can fit a range of other radiators. These include standard columns, which are good for traditional-style bathrooms. We can also fit modern vertical and horizontal radiators, which work well in modern-style bathrooms.
Bathroom Flooring
Bathroom Flooring has to look good while being water resistant. In addition, some bathrooms, typically those used by children and older people, need non-slip flooring.
Floor Tiles
Tiles are used in many of the bathrooms we fit. Nearly everyone prefers tiles to other flooring materials.
Porcelain tiles are very hardwearing and resistant to cracking. They are also available in many patterns, colours, shapes and textures.
Vinyl
Vinyl is a popular alternative to tiles. It’s usually cheaper to buy while being quicker and easier to fit.
Vinyl can be purchased in boxes of tiles or on a roll. Both types are glued to the floor to keep it secure.
Vinyl is slippery when wet, and tiles can also be, although textured tiles have good non-slip properties.
Concrete
Concrete is an excellent alternative to tiles and vinyl. It will remain waterproof as long as it’s treated and maintained properly. Concrete suits many modern bathroom styles and looks incredible once polished.
Rubber
Rubber is a good choice for older people in bathrooms. It’s soft and very grippy even when wet. Rubber is for safety-first bathrooms. However, it certainly isn’t the best-looking bathroom material.
Wood
Some bathroom designs and styles require wood flooring. Engineered wood is ok in bathrooms as long as you look after it and are careful not to get it too wet.
Bathroom Walls
Bathroom walls can be fitted with tiles, panels, or even wood. Uncovered areas can be painted.
Tiles
Tiles are the perfect bathroom wall material. They are tough, waterproof, easy to clean, and available in many shapes, colours, and patterns. They can be made of ceramic, glass, slate, or even marble. Bathroom walls can be partially or fully tiled. Tiles are always used in and around the bath and shower areas unless wall panels are fitted.
Panels
Wall Panels offer 100% waterproofness and are much quicker to fit than tiles, as a single panel runs floor to ceiling.
Wall Panels are available in many colours and designs to complement every Bathroom style.
In addition, different grades of wall panels are available to suit all budgets and types of bathrooms.
Many bathrooms are fully tiled or panelled. Others are only partially tiled or panelled or not at all.
Paint
For the bare areas, Bathroom paint is applied. It is hardwearing and has excellent water and moisture resistance. Hundreds of colours are available.
Wood
Treated wood is a must for some designs. For example, farmhouses, shabby chic and coastal bathrooms will utilise wood. Wood cladding is kept from bath and shower areas and treated for water and moisture resistance.
Bathroom Suites
Once your floor is down and the walls are covered, the next job is to install the bathroom suite.
Bathroom suites include toilets, basins, baths and shower enclosures. Toilets and basins can be set into or incorporated with storage units.
Bathroom suites in various classic and modern designs are available in multiple lengths and heights. The suite that best suits your bathroom style is fitted.
Toilets
All toilets have the latest water-saving flush mechanisms. They save water and help the environment.
There are many toilet options, including close-coupled, high, back-to-the-wall, comfort height, rimless, wall-hung, and corner toilets.
Basins
Basins come in various lengths to fit all spaces. Like toilets, there are many different types.
Basins include corner, countertop, inset, pedestal, stand-mounted, under-the-counter, and wall-mounted.
Baths
Baths are generally made from acrylic or steel. Alternative materials include stone, steel, nickel, and copper. Various lengths are available to fit all spaces.
Both types include panels, shower baths, freestanding, walk-in and corner.
Showers
All good bathrooms include a shower. Showers are fitted in an enclosure or over the bath. Shower baths are wider at one end to accommodate a shower with enclosure, screen or curtain.
We fit all types of showers, including mixer, electric, thermostatic, digital, smart and power showers.
Taps
We fit modern taps that include hardwearing cartridges, ensuring your taps remain leak-free for many years.
Like all other Bathroom materials, taps are available in many classic and modern designs, shapes and sizes.
Storage
Bathrooms need storage for towels, shampoo, soap, and more. We can place storage units and cupboards in convenient areas and work them into the bathroom suite.
For example, double drawers can be fitted underneath a basin, while the Toilet can accommodate small cupboards on either side. Of course, it depends on the size and shape of your Bathroom. However, you can rest assured your Bathroom will be fitted with ample, easy-to-use storage.
