Bathroom Design, Installation & Refurbishment
Designing and building a bathroom is a specialised job that requires careful planning and several skills from different trades.
We build complete bathrooms from start to finish.
The first step is the design which involves a visit from our Bathroom designer, who will establish what you want from your Bathroom, the materials, the look, style and functional aspects for day to day use.
Most bathrooms we install are modern, with the latest suites, taps, tiles, colours, fixtures, and fittings. Alternatively, we can design and build traditional-looking bathrooms utilising classic suites, taps, colours etc.
We can match any design you have seen elsewhere and, like the look of, build a bathroom with any materials of your choice or design a bathroom for you. Our bathroom designer will go through all the available options suitable for your needs, wants and bathroom space.
Once our designer has a complete understanding of the Bathroom you want, he’ll go away, get prices for your materials and write you a free no-obligation quote. Of course, you are welcome to source and provide your own materials if you wish, and we’ll quote you for the fitting.
You’re welcome to have your existing Bathroom refurbished. For example, you may be happy with your suite, taps and shower but want new wall tiles, flooring and storage. We are very flexible when it comes to bathroom design and fitting, taking on all jobs, big and small.
All Bathroom Installations are thoroughly planned to ensure swift, disruption-free fitting.
Bathroom Installation Materials A-Z
When designing your Bathroom, materials are needed for
- Flooring
- Walls
- Plumbing
- Electrical
- Suites
- Showers
- Lighting
- Storage
- Heating
- Fixtures
Each of the above aspects is accounted for and require their own planning and materials.
The following materials are commonly used for Bathroom Installations. We’ll select the ones most relevant to your Bathroom design.
Baths
Most bathrooms include a bath that is generally made from acrylic or steel. Stone is another option but is expensive and heavy. Baths are available in lengths to fill all gaps and varying widths. Bath types include standard, freestanding, corner, walk-in and shower baths.
Basins
Like baths, basins are available in sizes to fit all spaces. However, there are more types of a basin, including pedestal, wall-mounted, corner, inset, countertop, and more.
Carpet
A waterproof stain resistant carpet can be fitted if you want it. Although we don’t generally recommend carpet as it’s a magnet for mould and mildew.
Concrete
Treated concrete works great in modern bathrooms. It’s cheap, easy to clean and waterproof. Various finishes are available, including polishing, and they can be painted to match or complement the colours of your bathroom walls.
Electrical
Before the Bathroom fitting commences, all the wiring for the lighting, switches and shower is positioned. Then the qualified electrician connects the cables to the RCD fuses in your consumer unit.
Engineered Wood
Engineered wood is not our first recommendation for bathroom flooring but is a possibility as it suits some rustic designs. However, be careful not to get wet and avoid it entirely if you have children.
Floor Tiles
Porcelain Floor Tiles are the number one bathroom flooring material, waterproof and highly durable. However, it can be slippery when wet. Some have a grippy surface to counter this—many colours and designs available.
Lighting
Bathroom lights are built to withstand heat, water and moisture and are usually recessed or semi-recessed into the ceiling. Many designs are available to suit all styles of Bathrooms. We’ll ensure the correct colour and strength bulbs are fitted to make the prominent design features of your Bathroom stand out.
Radiators
No one likes a cold bathroom, so most include a radiator. The heated towel rail is extremely popular, allowing the hanging of multiple towels. Other radiators include standard, traditional cast iron, modern horizontal or verticle designer radiators.
Rubber
Rubber is excellent flooring for bathrooms used by older folk or young children. It’s waterproof, non-slippy and soft in case there is slippage. Available in a few limited colours on a roll or as tiles.
Paint
Bare bathroom walls away from the shower and bath areas don’t need to be tiled or panelled, so they can be coated in bathroom paint. Bathroom paint is wiped clean while being resistant to water and moisture. Bathroom ceilings are typically painted also.
Plumbing
All pipework and drainage are installed in place before we fit your bath, basins, showers and toilets. Pipework is fitted to enable the future changing of taps, wastes, toilet mechanisms etc., quick and easy.
Showers
All good bathrooms have a shower fitted in an enclosure or above the bath. We fit all Showers, including mixer, electric, eco, digital, smart, power and thermostatic.
Storage
Shelves, units, drawers and cupboards are fitted in your Bathroom in convenient areas. In addition, units can be purchased that are built-in with your basin and toilet.
Suites
Bathroom suites include the toilet, bath and basin. Available in a range of lengths and widths in traditional and modern designs.
Taps
Bathroom taps are available in various colours, shapes and styles to work with both traditional looking and modern bathrooms. Multiple Tap mechanisms are on offer, including conventional washer taps, cartridges and discs.
Task Lighting
Lighting fitted above mirrors to add additional light for grooming.
Toilets
Modern Toilets are fitted with environmentally-friendly water-saving flush mechanisms. Toilets are available in a range of heights and types, including back to the wall, close coupled, corner, comfort height and wall hung.
Treated Wood
Wood does compliment some Bathroom designs, whether they are traditional-looking or modern. In addition, wood is treated to ensure protection from water and moisture.
Underfloor Heating
Enjoy a warm bathroom floor with Underfloor Heating installed by one of our expert engineers. Underfloor Heating works with all bathroom flooring types and is often used in conjunction with heated towel rail radiators.
Valves
A thermostatic radiator valve allows you to accurately control the temperature of your Bathroom. Go one step further with a smart valve that allows temperature control from an app on your smart device.
Vynil
Vynil is a cheaper and easier to fit bathroom flooring material when compared to porcelain tiles and is another prevalent bathroom flooring material. However, some people prefer the feel underfoot of Vynil to tiles Vynil comes on a roll or as pre-cut tiles available in many colours and designs.
Wall Panels
Wall Panels are an alternative to wall tiles and are 100% waterproof, so they can be used in the bath and shower areas. Panels are quicker to fit than tiles and are constructed from Acrylic, PVC or Laminate and are available in various colours and designs.
Wall Tiles
Wall tiles are used in most Bathrooms. They are waterproof, hardwearing and liked by mostly everyone. Wall tiles are usually ceramic, glass and even stone, available in an endless amount of textures and colours in varying shapes and thicknesses.
