We offer Power Flushing of central heating systems in and around Hockley, which will give you
- A thoroughly cleansed central heating system
- Better Energy Efficiency
- Fully working radiators with a total heat output
- Reduced energy bills
- Improved protection from Boiler breakdowns
- Warranty validation for new Boilers
All Power Flushing is undertaken by experienced and insured Gas Safe Registered engineers.
We Power Flush all central heating systems of all types (Combi, System and Regular) and makes of Boilers.
Signs Your Central Heating System Needs A Power Flush
If you experience any of the following issues with your central heating system, consider Power Flushing.
Slow Heating Radiators
Free-flowing hot water should heat radiators quickly. However, radiators will experience a build-up of ‘sludge’ over the years. Sludge is like mud, a mixture of broken down limescale, rust and debris particles collected in radiators.
Sludge prevents radiators from heating quickly and thoroughly. If you feel your radiators take too long to heat up, a Power Flush will help.
Radiators Don’t Heat Fully
Radiators should be hot all over, switch on your heating, examine each one in your home, and ensure they are all bled before checking.
If any of your radiators are cold at the bottom or the bottom and middle, then Sludge prevents them from heating. Severely clogged radiators may not heat at all (if it’s not clogged, it may be a valve fault). It’s probably time for a Power Flush.
Brown Or Black Water
When you bleed your radiators, observe the colour of the water from every single radiator.
Clear or greywater from every radiator indicates your system is clear.
If any radiators present brown water, there’s corrosion inside your system, and it could do with Power Flushing.
If black water comes from any radiators, there’s Sludge present, time to Power Flush.
Boiler Pressure Issues
Boilers need to run at between 1-2 bars of pressure. If the pressure continuously drops, you could have a leak or a blockage somewhere in the system.
Otherwise, Sludge may be so severe that it’s causing pressure issues. Power Flushing will help.
New Boiler
Always have a Power Flush before having a new Boiler Installed. Power Flushing ensures that only clean water with no debris runs through your new Boiler.
Most importantly, the Power Flush validates your new Boiler.
Boiler warranties stipulate that a Power Flush is required beforehand to ensure validation.
Haven’t Power Flushed In 5+ Years
Power Flushing is recommended every five years to ensure your central heating system remains clean and efficient. So if you haven’t undertaken a Power Flush in the past five years, it’s time to have one.
How Power Flushing Works
First of all, you need to decide if you need a Power Flush. Then, go through the above points and see if any apply to your situation.
If you’re unsure, one of our engineers can inspect your system and advise whether a Power Flush is necessary.
We will give you a price upfront for Power Flushing your central heating system. The price will depend on the size and condition of your central heating system. We do our best to ensure our prices are fair and among the best in the area.
Book a time for one of our engineers to visit. Please bear in mind that a Power Flush usually takes a few hours. Really dirty, neglected central heating systems may take even longer.
Our engineer will arrive at your property on the agreed time and date.
A Kamco Power Flush machine is connected to your central heating system. For those with Combi Boilers, the machine’s connected at the head. Suppose you have a system Boiler with the machines connected to the pump.
The machine is filled with Kamco chemicals and water.
Kamco machines and chemicals are the industry standard for Power Flushing and are used by all of our engineers.
The Kamco machine is switched, pushing the special mix of chemicals and water through your system. The pressure is high enough to clean your system but not too high that pipe fittings leak.
As the water circulates, it dislodges and breaks down all the Sludge sitting in your pipes, radiators and valves.
As the Sludge is removed, it is circulated back to the Kamco machine, which filters the water collecting all the Sludge.
The process is run until all the Sludge in your central heating system is removed and the waters running clear.
A rust inhibitor is added to the clean water to help prevent future sludge build-ups. Finally, the wastewater is taken away by the engineer.
The engineer will turn the heating on, ensure all radiators are fully bled, and demonstrate the fast, much-improved heating up and heat output of your radiators.
The engineer will write you a record to prove your system’s been Power Flushed, which you may need if you ever make a claim on a new Boiler warranty.
After Flushing, you will enjoy your fast heating central heating system and better energy efficiency, so you should see an improvement in your energy bills.
