To undertake and complete a Plumbing job to a high standard requires the correct tools. Here are 12 essential tools that myself and my team of Plumbers carry in our toolboxes.
Spanners
Adjustable spanners are a handy tool that can be adjusted to fit any nut, bolt and compression fittings that we encounter in our day to day work. A large Spanner sets carried for those times when an adjustable spanner isn’t adequate.
Mole Grips
Old nuts, bolts and fittings have the annoying tendency to ’round off’ this where mole grips come in allowing us to grip and undo any fitting no matter how tight, solid or rounded. Molegrips can also be used to grip pipes and fittings and to clamp items together.
Water Pump Pliers
Not just for water pumps, the wide adjustable grip and thin design combined with long handles and superior leverage allow the gripping of any fitting which’s excellent for stubborn fittings, very useful for tight spaces as well.
Hacksaws
Sometimes old fittings refuse to be undone, some have been left for years (decades even) are jammed solid and sometimes unreachable. The hacksaw deals with them simply cut the fitting and replace. Both standard and junior hacksaws are carried.
Hammer
“When all else fails to hit it with a hammer” ok don’t that’s just a saying NEVER hit anything Plumbing related with a hammer, we do find hammers useful from time to time though.
Immersion Heater Spanner
Immersion heater fittings are too fat for any spanner and water pump pliers the only way to remove or fit them is with an actual immersion heater spanner designed especially for the job.
Pipe Cutters
There are four types of pipe cutter the single-handed, the ratchet, adjustable and power. We carry them all to cover every possible situation; there’s no pipe we cannot cut.
Radiator keys
There are various types of radiator key ten types in all. We carry standard bleed keys, four-way keys, radiator hex keys, radiator spanner and air release key, universal keys and stepped ratchet keys, a wide range that allows us to deal with any radiator.
Stopcock Key
Indoor and outdoor stopcock keys allow control of the mains water supply in hard to reach places such as underground.
Soldering Mat
When welding pipes we’ll always use a soldering mat, so we don’t burn anything in your home.
Buckets
The humble bucket an essential tool for dealing with excess water.
Drain rods
Unblocking toilets is the most unpleasant job of all, drain rods are a must for toilet unblocking, they get the job done in no time.
